What is America’s Energy Coast?

A string of proud states - Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama - host the abundant energy resources that keep America’s economy strong.

Home to America’s WETLAND, the Gulf Coast faces the largest demonstrable sustainability crisis in the nation and is the laboratory for one of the world’s most important working ecosystems. From this vital region, best practices will emerge that will impact potential and current energy-producing regions globally.

The America’s Energy Coast initiative is bringing together leaders of academia, industry, conservation, government and non-profit agencies to create a positive, balanced national dialogue on America’s energy future and to ensure that the voices of the region are heard and their contributions are recognized.

The project will educate the public about the necessary co-existence of energy and ecology to sustain America’s Energy Coast. Through leadership forums and outreach projects we will educate the public how responsible and sustainable energy development is attainable and consistent with conservation and environment stewardship.

Definitions of sustainability will be written with an understanding of the need for working landscapes that can sustain both energy and environmental assets in the face of global climate change.

The America’s WETLAND Foundation believes that a better public understanding of the role, Louisiana, Texas, Mississippi and Alabama play as a vital energy corridor, will lead to a stronger, safer, sustainable energy future for all Americans.
